Evey (62) rebuilt hip strength, balance & gait after hip replacement - plus her osteoarthritic hands and feet feel better
WATCH EVEY’S STORY
How an already-active woman learned to move, walk, and exercise differently after hip replacement.
The Reshape Method® helped Evey get more from Pilates – and walk, hike, and travel with ease
A year after hip replacement, Evey (62) was recovering well. She was active, exercising regularly and already doing Pilates, spinning, walking, hiking, and biking. But she knew something was still off.
She had been told there were imbalances in her body, and she wanted to make sure she wasn’t compensating around her new hip – or creating problems for the other one.
What she wanted was not simply more exercise. She wanted to understand how to move better.
EVEY’S BEFORE & AFTER RESHAPE METHOD® ALIGNMENT RESULTS

EVEY’S RESULTS AT A GLANCE
HER HIP STRENGTH AND STABILITY CAME BACK
Before surgery, Evey had noticed weakness and a loss of power through her hips. Through the Reshape Method®, she began feeling her glutes and hamstrings working again – and regained the stability she had been missing.
“The power that I had in my hips—I feel that I have back now.”
HER WALKING CHANGED
Evey thought her gait was fine. She walked all the time. Then she began noticing how much she had been leaning forward and how differently her body could move when the right muscles were doing the work.
“I feel like I’ve taken the weight off the front of my body.”
STAIRS – and MACHU PICCHU – FELT EASIER
While in the Reshape Method® program, Evey travelled to the Galápagos and Machu Picchu. There was plenty of walking, climbing and movement involved.
She reported “never a painful moment” and could go up and down stairs effortlessly – even at altitude.
HER POSTURE VISIBLY CHANGED
When Evey compared her before-and-after photos, even she was surprised. Her sister assumed she must have been consciously standing differently in the after photo. She wasn’t.
“I was just standing, being myself.”
HER HANDS AND FEET FELT BETTER
Evey also has osteoarthritis and had been experiencing pain through her hands and feet. She noticed less pain and more mobility in both.
SHE GETS MORE FROM PILATES
Evey did not have to give up the exercise she already loved. Instead, she began applying what she had learned in the Reshape Method® about breathing, alignment, and muscle use to her Pilates sessions.
“I get so much more out of it.”
She now thinks about which muscles are actually working rather than simply completing the movement and checking off the workout.
SHE WASN’T SURE SHE EVEN NEEDED THE PROGRAM
Evey’s hesitation was understandable. She was active. She exercised regularly. Her replacement hip was doing well. Why add another exercise program?
What she discovered was that the Reshape Method® was not about simply adding more exercise. It helped her see how she was moving – and where her body was compensating despite all the activity she was already doing.
“At first I thought my gait’s fine. I walk fine. I walk all the time – but boy, did I learn a lot.”
The workouts themselves did not feel overly strenuous. The difference came from being far more precise about how she performed them.
THE PRIVATE COACHING CREATED THE AHA MOMENTS
Evey had already heard many familiar exercise cues through years of Pilates and barre. But hearing a cue and knowing exactly what it means in your own body are not always the same thing.
The private sessions allowed me to see the small compensations she could not see herself and make tiny adjustments in real time – even over Zoom.
“I got it for the first time. It was like, ‘Oh, that’s what they mean when they say that.’”
Those small corrections changed what she felt in the Reshape Method® workouts – and what she now feels in Pilates.
MORE THAN RECOVERING FROM SURGERY
Evey did not join because her hip replacement had gone badly. Quite the opposite.
She wanted to protect the progress she had made and build a body that would continue supporting everything she wants to do next.
Walking. Hiking. Travelling. Exercising. Being with family.
The goal was not simply to recover. It was to feel strong, capable and confident in the body taking her into the next chapter of life.
“It’s your life… and you won’t be able to do all those things you want to be doing if you’re not investing in yourself.”
COULD ALIGNMENT BE YOUR MISSING PIECE?
Evey was already active and doing many of the “right” things.
What she needed was a clearer understanding of how her body was aligned, which muscles were actually working, and where small compensations could affect the bigger picture.
