Sukie (48) went from 20+ years of pain to teaching yoga pain-free – and losing her menopause middle
WATCH SUKIE’S STORY
Super-active lawyer and yoga teacher Sukie had tried almost everything for more than 20 years. The missing piece turned out to be alignment – and within weeks, her body started changing.
Sukie stopped needing the handrail on stairs, slept deeply, lost weight, and felt younger in her body – without harder workouts
At 48, Sukie had spent more than 20 years dealing with pain in her knees, feet, lower back, shoulders, and neck, along with leg cramps and tired, heavy legs.
She had also spent a lot of time, money, and effort trying to fix it with chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, acupuncture, podiatry, yoga, gym workouts, cardio, and more.
But nothing created lasting change. Eventually, she reached the point many women do after years of trying the typical things that don’t seem to solve the problem.
“I surrendered. It was just like, this is gonna be my life.”
She was only 48, yet some days Sukie had to pull herself up the stairs using the handrail because her knees hurt so much. Sukie had even gone to her doctor because the pain in her legs was severe enough that she thought she might need surgery.
Then she started the Reshape Method®. And by Week Four, she was already noticing changes. And by the end of the 12 weeks, Sukie says:
“My pain has disappeared. It’s gone.”
SUKIE’S RESULTS AT A GLANCE
THE PAIN SHE HAD LIVED WITH FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS WENT
Sukie’s pain wasn’t confined to one body part: her knees, feet, lower back, shoulders, and neck hurt. Her legs cramped, and after work she would feel completely wiped out.
She had tried treating those areas individually for years, but any relief was short-lived.
“I’d have relief for about 24 hours. But after 24 hours, you’re back to square one.”
But with the Reshape Method®, Sukie noticed something different. The pain began subsiding around Week Four and continued improving rather than continually bouncing back. Her leg cramps disappeared too.
For Sukie, that was the biggest transformation of all.
SHE COULD TEACH YOGA AGAIN – WITHOUT THE PAIN
Sukie was already a qualified yoga teacher, but she had become embarrassed to describe herself that way because she couldn’t comfortably do much of the yoga herself.
She had hoped yoga would fix her body. Instead, some of the poses aggravated her knees so much that she eventually had to stop.
After the Reshape Method®, Sukie returned to teaching classes in a studio and could hardly believe how different she felt.
“I cannot believe how agile I am in my movement when I’m doing my yoga.”
Her students were even telling her they wanted to move like she did.
For someone who once felt she couldn’t legitimately call herself a yoga teacher, that was a very different place to be.
SHE STOPPED PULLING HERSELF UP THE STAIRS
Before the Reshape Method®, Sukie sometimes needed the handrail just to get upstairs. Then, around Weeks Five or Six, she caught herself running up and down the stairs without it.
She hadn’t consciously decided to test herself – she just realized she was doing it.
“When I didn’t have to use my hand on the handrail, it was just like, whoa.”
A lot of her progress showed up like that – normal things quietly becoming easier before she had even stopped to measure them.
SHE LOST WEIGHT AND HER “MENOPAUSE MIDDLE” CHANGED
Weight loss wasn’t one of Sukie’s goals when she joined, but her body shape began changing around the same time she noticed the pain improving.
She had previously tried diets, cardio, gym workouts, and plenty of daily steps, but felt she had hit a plateau – particularly around her middle.
During the Reshape Method®, she says she didn’t change her diet.
Yet her belt suddenly needed a tighter notch, people began commenting on how different she looked, and the abdominal bloating and “menopause middle” she had been frustrated by changed dramatically.
“I feel stronger, fitter, lighter, leaner.”
Sukie also noticed more muscle tone, particularly through her legs.
“My legs are the tonest in my entire life.”
HER SLEEP, SKIN, AND ENERGY IMPROVED
Before the program, Sukie would come home from work completely drained. But as her body started feeling better, she also began sleeping more deeply and waking with more energy.
She describes the sleep as restorative rather than simply more hours in bed, and says the difference showed up elsewhere too – including in her skin.
"My skin is looking so much better. I'm not even using the expensive cosmetics and creams that I was using before."
Pain relief was the main reason Sukie joined the Reshape Method®, but having enough energy to actually enjoy her life was a pretty significant bonus.
HER WALK CHANGED
Sukie had always considered herself someone who walked gracefully. She’s tall, stood upright, and assumed her posture and alignment were pretty good. Then she had her alignment assessed, and it turned out there was quite a bit more going on underneath the surface.
Once Sukie reshaped her alignment, walking started to feel easier and more natural.
“I’m walking with ease and grace.”
And instead of trying to manufacture cardio by pushing harder in the gym, walking became a much more effective part of her everyday movement.
SHE HAD TRIED EVERYTHING – EXCEPT LOOKING AT ALIGNMENT
One of Sukie’s biggest aha moments was realizing that she had spent decades adding exercise and treatment on top of the way her body was already moving: yoga taught her poses; the gym gave her exercises; other practitioners worked on painful areas.
But nobody had really taught her how her own skeleton was stacked, which muscles were doing the work, and where her body was compensating.
That was the missing piece.
“We had to unlearn everything.”
For Sukie, reshaping her alignment meant going back to the foundation first, rather than trying to strengthen or stretch whatever pattern was already there. And once she understood that, a lot of her previous frustration started making more sense.
SHE THOUGHT SHE ALREADY HAD GOOD POSTURE
This was another surprise. Sukie is 5'9", naturally carries herself tall, and people had often complimented her posture, so she assumed alignment probably wasn’t a big issue for her.
But during her initial Alignment Assessment and private coaching sessions, Sukie began seeing how her misalignment could be contributing to many of her aches and pains.
A squat could look perfectly respectable from the outside, but a tiny change in how she stacked her body could completely change which muscles she felt.
“I just couldn’t even believe that through a screen you could see the tiny tweaks that I had to change.”
That specificity was important to Sukie because she wasn’t looking for another video library where she copied exercises and hoped for the best – she wanted to know what her own body was doing.
THE WORKOUTS FELT ALMOST TOO EASY
Sukie was used to the idea that a workout should feel hard – you should be out of breath, sweaty, pushing. So the Reshape Method® took a little trust at first.
“I honestly was skeptical about it.”
The workouts flowed, they were enjoyable, and often she would finish 30 minutes thinking she hadn’t felt much at all – only to realize later that her body had absolutely been working.
Instead of racing ahead, which is her natural tendency, Sukie made herself follow the program week by week as it was designed. And she’s glad she did.
The progression made far more sense once she could see what each stage had been preparing her body for.
A SIX-WEEK BREAK DIDN’T SEND HER BACK TO SQUARE ONE
After completing the 12-week first round of the Reshape Method®, Sukie had an accident and needed to take six weeks away from the workouts.
She worried that the gains she made would completely disappear because she wasn’t exercising. But this wasn't the case.
“My body didn’t change.”
Sukie wasn’t doing the formal workouts during that period, but the other things she had learned – how she stood, walked, breathed, and moved through her day – were still part of her life.
That was when the idea of the Reshape Method® being something she could use long-term really landed.
When she returned to the program, she started again from the earlier weeks and found herself noticing even more the second time through. The foundation had stayed with her.
SHE DIDN’T NEED THE GYM MEMBERSHIP ANYMORE
While doing the Reshape Method®, Sukie was still paying for a gym membership. Eventually, she looked at what she was getting from each and cancelled the gym because she realized that more exercise wasn’t what she had been missing.
She needed the biomechanics, personal coaching, alignment work, breathing mechanics, anatomy, and understanding of how all those pieces fitted together.
“It’s not just an exercise program.”
And that distinction mattered to someone who had already spent years doing plenty of exercise.
SHE STARTED USING WHAT SHE LEARNED WITH HER OWN YOGA STUDENTS
One of the more interesting ripple effects of Sukie’s experience is that it changed how she teaches. Since Sukie now understands alignment and anatomy at a different level, she notices things in her yoga students that she might not have seen before.
A tiny adjustment can change what they feel in a pose. And suddenly they’re saying:
“Oh, I didn’t feel that before.”
Sukie didn’t just regain her own ability to do yoga comfortably; she became a more informed teacher because she understood what was happening underneath the pose.
SHE SEES MIDLIFE VERY DIFFERENTLY NOW
Before the Reshape Method®, Sukie was already wondering what her 70s might look like if she felt this limited in her 40s. Now, her outlook is almost the opposite.
“I want this to be the best years of my life.”
For Sukie, audacious aging means expansion, feeling youthful, having the energy and mobility to work through her midlife bucket list.
Looking good, yes – but also having a body capable of participating in the life she wants.
“Life definitely does begin at 40, but that’s only if you invest in yourself – in your mind, your body, your soul.”
She describes the Reshape Method® as transformational because it didn’t simply give her temporary relief; it changed how she understood and used her body.
“I feel like I’ve got a new mind and a new body.”
And after decades of appointments, exercise programs, and money spent trying to feel better, she has a pretty clear opinion on the investment:
“It’s the best investment I’ve made in myself.”
COULD ALIGNMENT BE YOUR MISSING PIECE?
Sukie had been active for years. She had done yoga, cardio, gym workouts, physio, chiropractic, acupuncture, and more. She didn’t need another thing to throw at the pain – she needed to change the foundation underneath all of it.
By reshaping her alignment, Sukie stopped loading the same painful areas, started using her body differently, and discovered that midlife didn’t have to mean managing an ever-growing list of aches.
